Westland Arts Incorporated and Westland District Library are collaborating to make a free exhibition space available.
Art @ the Library is a small, nimble and flexible project that aims to provide exhibition space for artistic and innovative proposals.
Relief prints on paper
In 2022 the Print Council of Aotearoa New Zealand, ran a book project for members. We each designed a page for a Bestiary- a book of imaginary beasts, and I called my little beastie a ‘Homebody’.
Homebodies. Creatures that live in the fabric of your home.
I imagined that in the fabric of my home; under the wallpaper, behind the curtains and between the folded tablecloths lurk the shadows of ravens, whales, seals and crows. These undomesticated creatures have mythological significance that is unacknowledged in the fabric of our domestic lives. That does not mean it is not nearby.
Kate Buckley is an artist and a facilitator. She is interested in work which links art, people and place. Originally from Ireland, Kate now lives in Hokitika. Primarily working in intaglio and relief printmaking, Kate layers both texture and meaning in her work.
There are 16 images in this exhibition. Each is A4 and printed using layers of relief printmaking, including hand-painting and transfers from curtains, lace and tablecloths.
The images are for sale by donation. Each image is $50.00. To purchase make a $50 (or more) donation to MSF/ Doctors without borders - Türkiye and Syria appeal and send me a screenshot or receipt - please get in touch with me at [email protected] beforehand to confirm the image you want is available
